EspañolVicenza is the home of music. Throughout the year many events of every kind of music take place, indoors and outdoors, in the city and in the surrounding area.
During the week and on weekends there are live concerts in different pubs; these include Sartea, Bar Borsa and Astra. In the discotheques Villa Boni and Nordest, DJ’s play music for all tastes on several dance floors at weekends.
From May to October, open-air festivals lasting several days are organised in the city districts and the surroundings, where locally and regionally known groups present themselves. The music ranges from rock, folk and heavy metal to underground and electronic music. Well-known festivals are Jam rock, Perarock and Festambiente. Performances of DJ’s and groups also take place during the city wall festival in June.
In the central Piazza dei Signori, during the warm season, well-known Italian groups and songwriters give concerts in front of thousands of listeners.
Vicenza Jazz has been the centre of attention in May for more than 20 years: concerts with international groups and emerging artists take place in squares, theatres, and bars of Vicenza.
The Spazio e Musica festival is dedicated to ancient music and takes place in architecturally unique locations on several Sundays between July and October.
Vicenza also offers a wide range of musical events during the winter season: the concert season at the Teatro Olimpico and Teatro Comunale offers classical music, musicals, pop and dance. In October the Vicenza Opera Festival attracts guests from near and far.
Music is also very popular in the surrounding cities: Marostica Summer Festival, Estate in città in Montecchio Maggiore and OperaEstate in Bassano del Grappa offer numerous concerts ranging from modern to classical music.
International stars perform in the Geox Arena in Padua, in the Arena in Verona and, of course, in Milan, which can be reached by train in less than 2 hours.
